色の (Iro no) FIESTA: A Festival of Colors

Iro no Fiesta

Say ‘hi’ to a psychedelic July
with the most colorful event ever!

This coming July, UP Tomo-Kai will once again hold our anniversary celebration this year entitled
色の (Iro no) FIESTA: A Festival of Colors. The Philippines and Japan are countries always pulsing with life in all its myriad hues. Few other nations can boast of having such playful and unfathomable cultures, of which the best examples are their people. They weave along and against each other, creating tapestries of color that when merged become the soul of the land. It is with this vibrancy in mind that we would like to celebrate our Fiesta, by showcasing different aspects of the two cultures through a series of activities spanning the whole month.

|| SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES ||

July 2 | Unang Buhos! A Waterballoon Tournament

Teams of eligible students shall battle it out beneath the blue sky in a pseudo-dodge ball tournament played out using water balloons.

July 3-6| Land of Rice and Sun

A food festival featuring Japanese and Filipino cuisine will cater to the burning hunger of the public with a university-wide eating contest and cooking demo on July 3, and an assortment of food booths available from July 3 to 6.

July 11| IROIRO HALOHALO

This interactive exhibit aims to introduce and enhance the knowledge of the populace on various aspects of the Filipino and Japanese cultures—such as language, visual arts, and music—through a dynamic display of beauty and elegance.

 July 19 | Aurora Borealis: Rock Music Night

Chosen bands will reveal the heart of the modern age onstage in this passionate night of music.

July 26|ものくろ (monokuro)

For the final event we have another musical concert, but this time with an emphasis on the fusion of the traditional and the modern, the Filipino and the Japanese.

See you at the fiesta!
