It’s recruitment season once again!
It is during this time that we get to meet new people, go through new experiences, and of course, create new connections. This semester, Tomo-Kai welcomed applicants with not just one, but two orientations.
The first applicants’ orientation was held on Sept. 1, Thursday. Due to unforeseen circumstances, everyone gathered at the UP Town Center atrium from 6:30-7:30 pm. Like the usual orientations, it included an introduction of the organization; its history, events, and traditions. The applicants were taught the meaning of SKR, and how to properly introduce themselves (jikoshoukai). Afterwards, the committees were introduced. One committee came prepared with a video; everyone gazing towards the small laptop screen, while another performed under the night sky and amidst the scrutiny of mall goers. The applicants were then told about the application process in general. Despite the last minute changes, it was successful!
However, there were applicants unable to come to UP Town to participate. To accommodate more people, a second orientation was held on Sept. 7, Wednesday, at PH 308-310 from 5:30-7 pm. Fortunately, more people were able to attend, and the program went more smoothly. Just like the last orientation, the organization was introduced. For the jikoshoukai portion, there was a twist- everyone was given bingo cards and were to jikoshoukai to each other, looking for people with the same year level, birth month, and even shoe color! From an initially quiet atmosphere, the room became livelier as people got to know each other. There were committee presentations as well, but this time, the members were more ready to present- every committee had something to showcase.
Both orientations were capped with group photos and farewells.
Thank you to those who attended the orientations, and we hope to see you a lot at the tambayan!
