Hibla: An AcousTKafe

Niña Marie Bonifacio, Batch Buko

In celebration of its 26th anniversary entitled “Kataware-doki: A Glimpse of Twilight”, the University of the Philippines Philippines-Japan Friendship Club, more commonly known as UP Tomo-Kai, hosted “Hibla: An AcousTKafe” last April 21, 2017. The gathering was just one of the several events organized by UP Tomo-Kai for the month of April in an effort to give back for its continued success throughout the years.

It was a relaxing event filled with live OPM, Japanese music, and even spoken poetry. Here, audiences got to enjoy free snacks and unlimited drinks. The three-hour event was kicked off with a lively introduction from the hosts, Ms. Jeselle Laguna and Ms. Raissa Navata. Throughout the event, the hosts changed, but their level of liveliness remained the same.

Live performances were given by Denisse and Alanis, Miji and Cy, Twinnings, Lirika, Asterysk*, Jai Batac, Mary Anne Balane, Z, and UP Music Circle.

These talented musicians wowed the audience with their well-prepared, exceptional performances. Some performers chose to play their own renditions of OPM songs, while others opted for Japanese songs. Of course, the gathering also gave our very own members  an opportunity to showcase their talents by performing the recently popularized song by McDonald’s which warmed the hearts of a lot of people, Tuloy Pa Rin and a mash-up of Tadhana and a Japanese song from the hit movie Kimi No Na Wa, Nandemonaiya. Our members performed under the name TK Live.

While there were ongoing performances, iced tea, lemon juice, coffee and different kinds of cookies and biscuits were served for free to the audience. Together with the chill ambience, low tables, christmas lights and happi-donning Tomo-Kai members who served the food, the guests truly had a fun and relaxing afternoon away from the scorching heat of the sun.

Thank you everyone for coming!
